    Cisco WRT54G2 V1

I have a Cisco Linksys WRT54G2 V1 router inside a classroom setting with 14 computers connecting wirelessly to it with one hard wire to the router. Very intermittenly, numerous computers will lose the wireless connection to the router with a 10 minute period and then reconnect.
How can I solve this problem as it has been going on forever.

    Thanks
    Ben

Also what channel are you running your wireless connection on?
Does this happen if say just one wireless client is connected?
Does the hardware computer lose connectivity?

Are the computers set to let the wireless hardware go to sleep mode to save power? This is a default setting on windows operating systems, I believe. After a little period of inactivity, the connection would drop. People don't realise they are classed as inactive, as they are "on the internet" reading the same webpage for a while, or similar.

I was running on Channel 6, now 8. There is a Belkin 54 g router about 50 yards away and many walls away, and is set on Channel 1 (should be no interference).

Desktops are not set to sleep mode on wireless hardware.

Wireless connections to 14 desktops seem to work fine until numerous desktops are connected to the router.

802.11 uses channels 1,6, and 11. Using other channels will cause bleeding and cause disconnecting issues. Try channel 11.

Not set on sleep option. Using channel 11 no fix. Should I get additional routers to handle load?

Latest firmware (09) updated, wired computer never affected. One computer wireless connected does not disconnect. Only after multiple.

No, it doesn't but I understand what he is saying.

The 1 wired computer is never effected.
If only 1 wireless computer is connected, it never disconnects.
As soon as you connect a second wireless computer, the wireless computers starts to disconnect.(14 in all)
    The wired computer, stays connected.

The faq says that router should handle up to 50 wireless clients.

What happens if you have just 5 users connected? Do you have the disconnecting issue? If you dont have the problem what about 10 users?

Just to remind everyone 802.11B/G is a hub like technology and that 54 Mbps is actually running around 27 Mbps in the real world. As users connect to the wireless router, each client will have to wait to send or recieve data because of the hub like technology. Now if you have 14 clients connected at 27 Mbps, that is around 1.9 Mbps per client (which is usually enough for daily surfing). However this could cause connecitivity issues. I would suggest purchasing another access point set it up with the same SSID as the first one to do some kind of load balance.
