I'm also on VMedia, so I'm gonna guess you're also from the Land Of Eng...

Is this on multiple machines/devices, or only from one...and how do the machine/s you use connect to the network - are they wired or wireless..?

Also, are you still able to communicate with other devices on your network, or does everything fall over..?

Let us know so we can help you further....
I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...

it connects only to the 1 pc and is a wired connection when the internet goes i can do anything that doesnt require a connection

also i never had problems before my box was replaced for the better speed

i am using windows xp pro but my connection is also like this when i use ubuntu for linux

on the odd day here and there my connection will stay up through me playing games or multiple things ive checked with isp and there definately no data limits for me

also some times when i have to disable then enable it will quickly disconnect then connect again and will be ok for little while but the light where my cable plugs in to box turns orange saying i have no connection

    Hmm...

I know that I've got an "iffy" VMedia router device (router, firewall, gateway, WAP and switch in one) that sometimes decides for itself to have a bit of a DERP moment..

I have multiple systems on at a time, and for my situation, when it falls over it is something within the box (the switch part, mounted at the back, still allows communication on all ports) that falls over - and a simple 240 V reset seems to clear it... I keep meaning to chase VMedia up about it, but never get round to it....

Do you have another computer (or network-connectable device) that you could connect to your network to see whether you've got the same situation as me..?

When VMedia say that it isn't on their end, they mean that they can see a connection to your gateway device at the time you're speaking with them - maybe they can see some sort of logs, but I haven't done their troubleshooting course..

It doesn't mean that they can tell whether the link is as fast (data stream) as it should be, or that it is as stable (packet loss) as it should be or much else.

If you were using xDSL (for example, ADSL...VMedia uses DSL) then I know that there would be further logs and diags to use in the DSLAM and home gateway [IIRC the name; can't be bothered to check in my guides right now - it is time for me to go home, work is finished for the day] that could help to highlight the route of the problem.
