Do you have the option of going wireless or is that something you would rather not do? You can add another router by bridging the two. Router Setup - Two Routers on Same Home Network?

Going a different route as the powerline option was expensive when i last looked into it and i dont have access to the newegg link currently ...
Have you thought about wiring your home? If you own the home and feel handy, why not run some cable yourself. It will be a challenging learning experience but you will be familiar with a couple of common home repairs all the same.

Would a powerline adapter connect my computers to the Internet? Doesn't make much sense to me,

What part are you confused about? You connect one end to your router, connect it to the outlet then connect a second adapter to an additional outlet in your house then to your PC. It transfers the signals across the electric wiring in the house.
So no matter what you have to have two powerline adapters. One near the router and one close to the PC you want to connect to.Last edited by RicheemxX; February 29th, 2012 at 12:29 AM.

run some network cable along the wall or under your carpet, but you will need to have a wire from your PC to the wifi router...no way around it unless you go wireless
phone jack will do nothing, sorry
