3COM Switch 3300MM - 3C16988A - Does this have a web interface
hi
our company has bought 10 old switches to use at our site. I have configured them by Hyperterminal and once installed , you can get through to the network and internet.
We have 2 of the 3300XM - 3C16985B switches and I can get to these via the ip number through a browser. I have looked for documentation on the MM switches and on some it states that you can see the switch through a web browser and on others you cannot.
Can someone please tell me if the MM series can be accessed through a web interface?
Also I have left the SLIP at 192.168.101.1 - Subnet 255.255.255.0 - should this be changed
Thanks in advance

Do you mean 3com not Cisco?
3C16988A-US 3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 3300
Were these switches reset to factory settings before you put these switches on your network?
Here is the manual

Yes there is a web interface, check out the manual. Go to into the section of the CLI to see if the web interface is enabled

When you try to access the web browser of the switch what message/error do you get?
Can you ping the switch management address from your computer?
Are you using http or https to connect?
What browser are you using to try to connect to the switch?
Is telnet enabled on the switch so you can remotely log in? Can you log in through telnet successfully?

Hi
Sorry have been off line since you posted questions. Thanks for the updates, here are the answers:
1)Cannot establish a connect to the webpage
2) No I cannot ping when connected - although when we put it on the network, anyone attached to it can get to all servers, etc
3)http: to connect
4)IE 9
5)I have not used Telnet - I have used Hyperterminal and when connected via serial, I get through. I have sinced used putty and connect ok via the serial connection
Setup
IP: 172.20.0.56
Subnet 255.255.248.0
thanks

What software version is running on the switch?
Can you give us a crude diagram of your network? Are you using vlans? Do you have any kind of access list to dent certain traffic to certain segments? You being able to not ping the management interface tells me something is blocking the traffic to the switch being a misconfiguration of vlan settings or something dropping it like an ACL

Software is 2.66
Have 1 VLAN - 172.20.0.1
No access lists
Have checked one of the 3300XM'S that we have on line and I have set the same settings but still can't get on
Thanks
