Question Accessing computers in LAN(connected with switches) from Remote Location

    Hi,
I am facing a situation where all computers are connected in LAN using switches and I have to be able to access one or more of these computers from remote location.. I have one static IP with me which is not used with the switch. In particular I am hardly aware of working of switch and have this network admin who keeps on telling me that if I want to be able to access the computers in LAN from outside, it can not be part of LAN which sounds illogical to me. I have these systems located on varying distance so idea of getting it work using a router was dropped a long ago. So if someone could point me right direction or have faced the same problem could help me get through it that would be appreciated very much.
Again, I know I should have given more about make of switch, mode they are working in and LAN itself but I do not know that and even if I ask my network admin his reply would be it is impossible to do it. I can get answer of specific configuration or settings, if that is needed to solve this.. so please help me out here.
    Thanks and regards,
    Michael Rossney

LogMeIn works from either inside or outside a LAN.

I think LogMeIn is not the solution here. My requirements are as follows:
I have a SQL server running as part of LAN which is not connected with Internet. My application is located at some other place and should communicate with SQL server for entire application to work. And TPZ Cameras which are part of LAN again are required to be accessed from remote location as well. So is LogMeIn helpful here. I think first step should be connect LAN to internet using one static IP and then get port forwarding through switches to specific computers.
Note: LAN is based on Switches and not connected to Internet.
