    2.4 Ghz bridge before router

First time visiting in a while.

I am looking for opinions on a wireless bridge.

My application involves getting internet to an island approx. 1 mile from shore. At the landing they have the ability to get a Time Warner cable service. From there it needs to get to the island. Another design consideration is only having 12v available at the shore.

The issues that I have at the moment is the placement of a router and the availability of a wifi transceiver. My preferential setup is to have the cable modem and one transceiver at shore, and the mate transceiver on the island with the router. I am unsure if it is possible to have the WAN signal thru the wireless bridge.

The second part is what wifi transceiver. I would prefer not to have an integrated radio antenna, but instead have a radio cable, and antenna. Any leads to a possibility would be appreciated.

If you need any more information, please let me know.

    Brian

You would have a bridge on both sides with directional antennas so the signal can be pointed to your choosing, I assume you will have a clear LOS between the time Warner and the drop off on the island correct?

What kind of throughput does your application need?

    Some food for thought

The open question that I have is if it is possible to bridge a Public IP over the wireless bridge. I am wondering if it is possible to have the wireless bridge act as just an Ethernet cable and not have issues running on the WAN side of a router.

And this is the wireless bridge I am looking into.

    Thanks,

So you want the island side equipment to have the public ip correct?

Most wireless bridges are just layer 2, they connect two segments together passing packets. The bridge you posted is a full on functional router you will need to turn a lot of features off on that device to just make it a regular bridge
