    XP Hamachi+Squid VPN-Proxy Reveals IP

Created a VPN+Proxy using the latest Hamachi and Squid 2.7 Stable 8 on Windows XP. Both work fine but on sites that reveal one's IP address, I'm getting both IPs. For example, on a check from What Is My IP I get:
Quote Originally Posted by squid.conf configured

If I insert an forwarded_for delete I get:

(Using brackets to censor sensitive information)

If I insert a forwarded_for off I get the same as if I entered forwarded_for delete.

Those two solutions I found from other Stack Overflow threads but they didn't help.

I've tried some minor tweaks to the http_access allows but they don't seem to be doing what I want (allows and denies). I essentially want the Hamachi address alone to come up instead of the actual (my Firefox settings shouldn't be a problem but for the host I used the Hamachi IP, for the Proxy I used the Squid listen port).

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Note: Original posted over at Stack Overflow but doesn't look like anyone there has an answer so it has been buried the way SE QA sites do, so I'm going to also post the question here. GZ's been helping me a lot but I don't want to bother him any more than I have to, plus this makes it easier to follow and reply!!

    Updates & Conclusions

GZ effectively helped me lots so I'm just going to say basically we figured that a lot of scripts online just have the ability to see through the Proxy. Most sites won't have that. In accordance with that, I read somewhere that some are giving you the information like both IPs but as far as what they truly see? They are only reading the Proxy IP server-side.

There seems to be a lot of debate on this online.

I guess I figured that a properly configured Proxy as indicated here: SQUID Proxy: Anonymous Browsing | Novell User Communities would yield similar results. Apparently nothing I'm doing is having the same result that post has. Maybe Squid has changed? I'm not sure... but pretty much I've concluded that the only truly anonymous Proxy is one of the top paid ones AND/OR ones routed via a server located outside the network entirely. Proxies located on the network seem to always have work-arounds for finding the individuals true IP.

That's what I'm seeing anyway. I may be wrong, if so, please someone say otherwise.

    Possibilities I'm considering

    * Privoxy instead of Squid
    * OpenVPN+Squid - Will it yield different results? OVPN takes a bit of configuring so I may put this off until someone says it's worthwhile and why.
    * Paid VPN - VyperVPN, Strong, BTGuard, etc. All will be considered but I'd rather not spend any money at the moment (you get what you pay for, true, but I'm also strapped for cash).

    Anyone have any new suggestions?

Still willing to accept suggestions or tips (so someone post!). Anonymous is best. Blocking http_access's on squid.conf to the point of not seeing the internet properly is a little crazy.
