    Need a new router

Here's a detailed view of what I've got going on in my home:
    http://http://www.techimo.com/forum/...de-advice.html

I think my router is on its way out, so I pulled it and put my spare in place. I see lots of options for routers in the N range, all of which seem a lot more expensive than they used to be. I'd like to get an idea what to look for and what to avoid.

All of my adapters are G, but I probably won't upgrade all of them to N. (At least not right away.) I run a file server that also serves as a print server. If the new router could act as a print server as well, that would be helpful.

    Any thoughts?

I don't really have number in mind; I'd rather get what would work best for us. That said, I don't want to spend a fortune because it seems like I'm replacing the router and cable modem every 2-3 years.

If your still gonna use the 802.11G then I would recommend the WRT54GL. It's soild and I had mine now for 6 years. (Crosses figures) Newegg.com - Linksys WRT54GL Wireless Broadband Router 802.11b/g up to 54Mbps/ Compatible with Open Source DD-WRT (not pre-load)

My spare/backup router is a WRT54GC, so I agree that they are good routers. That said, isn't buying a G router these days investing is dead/dying technology?

Well, if your not doing a whole lot of network file transfers, don't use a NAS, etc then it doesn't matter. Look at how many have bought the WRT54GL!

Curious what kind of internet connection do you have? Those WRT54Gs are starting to show their age when it comes to higher tier internet connections

I've got Cox Premier service: 27 Mbps down; 6 Mbps up (yes, I know theoretically).
