    Internet Control Software

I am looking for a freeware program that I can use to control access times to the internet on my home network. I would like to be able to control access by IP address. Maybe something that has the ability to name IP addresses so I know what they are quickly.

I have teens in the home who have tablets, laptops, etc and I want to be able to control the time that they have access to the internet. I have tried using the built in utility with the modem but it is really buggy and is never consistent. It will restrict access when it should not for some reason. I have messed with it a lot and always end up getting frustrated and turn off the feature due to the fact that it will block access outside of the "restricted" times for some odd reason.

Would be nice to have a program with an easy to use interface...if there is such a thing with no monthly fee, or even completely free.

Does the modem have a power cord that allows you to unplug it from the wall socket and kill the power to it....just kidding..

    Parental Control Software Reviews
"Parental control software can keep your kids safe online and limit their Web-surfing time. However, tech-savvy kids often find ways to circumvent these programs. ConsumerSearch editors looked at reviews from several sources, primarily tech publications, who say kids won't be able to disable or fool the programs recommended in this report."

If you have a router that has DD-WRT, or that can be flashed to DD-WRT, there are a ton of options within that to do this exact thing your wanting.

In the past I've always used a built in function to do this. I've never tried with stand alone software.

+1 for DD-WRT! In addition I also recommend OpenDNS - Cloud Internet Security and DNS.
