Please help with File Transfers

Hi! My brother who lives in Florida and I who live in California are trying to share some files. we tried it through MSN on Trillian, but we havent been able to work. We are both behind firewalls but even if we shut them off we still have this problem with Trillian. So we would like to know if there is a way over the internet to connect our computers and transfer some files. We both have cable and the files are over 100megs. So we cannot email them. Any Thought on how we can do this?

With an FTP program...it will give you both the opportunity to look at each others' files & pick and choose which ones you want to download to your computer. I don't have a link to one in my favorites, but I'm sure somebody here can suggest some for you...or even another way of file sharing.
BTW, what OS are both of you using?

Thats what I was thinking but how do I set it up to share files from my computer? Ill start mine and see if I can figure it out..

You could use direct connect and join a room low on the list (basically you would be the only 2 in there) share using that program.

It uses port 411-412 but I only had a problem with a router, never a firewall.

i have a linksys router, broadband and never had a problem, transferring files thru aol instant messenger.
have you tried that?

theres always the postal service too. hehe
