| Wireless Network Access Point
On a two computer wireless home network, do I need an access point, and is that the same as a Router or a Hub? Thanks.

you can't just have two cards and have them connect. you will need something in between them to communicate.
also the access point would plug into the switch, router, hub. so no its not the same.
you can tho buy a router that has wireless support. example

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check that out, I don't know if I want to spend that much. I'll have to do some more research.

| I don't agree with that because some cards, like the Orinocco wireless cards, have a box within the software for choosing Ad Hoc network (when an AP isn't used).
edit -> typo

thanks for the links DVNT. learn something new everyday. but question this technology looks pretty expensive and would probably be used for work more than home? |

Speaking of wireless in general, I would agree, more business use than home use due to the costs involved. |

Ground:
I don have anything, a Card, Access Point, nil. I'm interested in linking my notebook with my desktop, and was trying to find the least cost factor.
DVNT:
I just linked up two wired desktops, and I just wanted to link my notebook and another desktop, and since they would be in different rooms I didn't want to use the wires. But it seem as if I'll have to do some more research, especially on this "Ad Hoc" you mentioned. Thanks.
