| Windows 2000 professional....
Hi I was wondering if there was anyway to somehow get into a Windows 2000 professional system that is currently on my network. I know its highly illegal to do stuff like this but Im not doing it for an intent to do something Illegal, my roomie has a bunch of my files on that computer. I had a username and password but my roomie cut me off....
Any suggestions, I doubt there will be any, I heard the OS is tough to break. |

Well, if it's your roomates computer, he has the right to make the terms. As for your files, that isn't a nice thing to refuse to give you access. Maybe you need to talk to him, and set a time where you can remove the files with his supervision.
Since you have physical access to the computer, there are a variety of ways you could get to your files. But go with the talking option...it will keep you out of trouble.
I also suspect that your question is not in keeping with the intent of these forums. There are plenty of other sources on the web for the kind of info you're looking for. |

Im pretty choked about the whole ordealy, I just want to get my files back.
Thanks anyway, I know its a bad topic though, I wasnt trying to stir any shiznit. |

Well, unfortunately this isnt the forum to request how to crack his security. I would sugest talking to him, and if he tells you he cant set up uesr accounts anymore point him over here and we will help him out with that . Best of luck, but cracking and hacking arent allowed for discussion on the forums as it is his computer you are trying to gain entry to. |

Perhaps you should ask him to burn your files on to a CD for you.

DVNT1 has proposed the correct thing. Obviously the roomie still can access the computer and thus could either transfer the files via the network to your computer or put them onto a disk if he has a burner.
If he refuses to do so and the files are truthfully yours take him to small claims court over it....(sounds like a spat between you two in which it's going to be a lose lose situation...If you two can not be adult about it your both going to lose....You can cause him grief thru legal channels and he can cause you greif by just deleting your files....

I dont doubt that he hosed the user profiles and cant access your stuff anymore. Ive done that many times with XP and 2000 both. There are ways to get it back (its not really gone windows just doesnt know where it is) It just takes awhile to do and its not immediatly obvious how to do it. |
