Back to dialup
well, I'm visiting my sister and all she's got is the dial-up. Surprisingly her 56k is working awfully fast. Any ideas why? Not that I'm complaining of the fast speeds I am just wondering. She isn't using any download accelerators. She's dialing to her school's internet access.

it might be her connection. remember the connection is dependant on a lot of things: the quality of the lines, the speed of the server she's connecting to, the distance from point a to point b. i'd never go back from my broadband that's for sure.

I set up the DSL broadband at the office. (Sigh!) At home I live in a broadband no-fly zone. (Grrr!) I always log on at 50667 bps at home. A friend who works for Bell South came by for supper the other day and he said the reason I always log on so fast is because I live so close to the SLICK.
He said that if Alltel (Uck!) would ever get off their buttox and bring DSL to my little town, that I live plenty close enough to the SLICK to qualify for DSL. Oh well, one of these days.
