Wireless to Wired how to bridge?

We have a wireless network. It runs 3 wireless computers and a laptop. The Wireless router is connected to the Internet.

I wanted to allow my wired network access to the Internet, but it will have to travel over the wireless network. I tried Internet connection sharing, but the NIC can't be assigned the same IP that the router is.

Do I have to get an access point? Will this do the job of allowing my LAN access to the internet over the wireless? I assume it would either forward the DHCP requests from the LAN or serve as a local DHCP. (I would presume the former)

Problem is, the access point costs more than the router did. Is there any way around it? Or is that the only method of doing so (aside from a wired connection tot he router)

Three ideas, from best to least IMO

1st: replace the wired router with a combination wireless and wired router.

2nd: if your wireless wouter can do infrastructure mode or bridge mode (some mode tha disables NAT and DHCP) then buy a wired router to put in between the wireless one and the Internet (and set the wireless to one of the mentioned settings0.

3rd: Use the ICS host in between the wireless router and the Internet and set the wireless router to one of the modes mentioned above. If you can't use that mode, then the wireless computers will not be accessible by the wired ones. Additional note, you may need to change the DHCP ranges so they don't conflict.

1: It is wireless with a 4-port switch.

2 & 3 Wouldn't it just be easier to buy an access point?

If it is a wired/wireless switch then the wired client's Internet data shouldn't go over the wireless at all. If the wired clients can not access the Internet as it is now than the wired/wireless router isn't working properly (sounds like a Linksys ).

What you actually have now is a 4-port router with a built in Wireless Access Point. By purchasing a Wireless ethernet bridge (WET11 from Linksys), you can hook the two together. Simply connect the bridge to the Wired LAN and it will then interface with the Wireless Access Point and on to the internet.

If you already have a wireless router with 4 wired ports, why do you need to buy something else for Internent access?
