    External modem question

     
    Has anyone used a USB to serial adapter to connect an external modem to their PC? Is it any faster than connecting through serial port? Is it a reliable connection?

    It will not be any faster to use a USB to Serial converter, as the Serial port is still faster than any modem currently allowed by the FCC. Reliablitly shouldn't be an issue as the USB driver should just tell the computer that you have another COM port. (likely COM 5 or something rediculous [sp?] like that)
