| lil' home network question!
Hi everyone,
Im currently setting up an 'addon' to my home network...
My current computer now has two network cards, one connected to the rest of my home network, and one connected (with a crossover cable) to the 'other' computer, lol.
anyway, as you may have guessed my computer has two IP addresses: 192.168.0.15 for the home network, and 192.168.0.80 for the connection to the 'other' computer. (that computer's IP is 192.168.0.81)
ok with that setup, the 'other' computer can only see my computer. is it possible to set it up so that computer can see the 'rest' of my home network? Or access the internet via my computer (which gets its internet off the computer with IP 192.168.0.1) ?
I'm not sure what to setup for this, if anyone has any suggestions (no, i cant by a network switch/hub lol) or anythin could you please tell me (if i need to explain anything more tell me too )
Thanks alot

Did you make sure to set up your other computer with your networks "workgroup" or domain name? Also, what are the o/s's on each computer. lol ALSO, how is the rest of your network configured...switch/hub/router etc. and what devices are you attempting to access?

I'm thinking you're going to have to setup your middle PC like a router.
You'll want to get some software. You'll need to setup that lone machine that plugs into the PC/Router and give ita different IP space (192.168.1.xxx) if I'm not mistaken.

ok
All computers are on the "home" workgroup, the two computers Im talkin about in this context are both XP pro, and all computers (excluding the 'other' one here) is connected to an 18 port hub.
What I would like is to enable the 'other' computer (connected to my computer) to access the internet (which is on the computer with IP 192.168.0.1, conencted directly to the same hub my computer is connected to), or even access the other computers
I could bridge the two network cards in my computer, but by doing that I've heard will disable the internet & XP's remote desktop and stuff on my computer
Anyway, I hope this information helps

What OS are you using?
I think if your using WinXP, all you need to do is bridge the two connections in the network connections screen. Never actually did it myself, but that what I heard bridging was supposed to be used for. If your not on XP, I think you need some other third party software to so something similar, as vass pointed out. |

hey again!
It seems that winXP's bridge does work properly. I've bridged the two network adapters in my computer (all computers, including the network bridge have an IP of 192.168.0.*) and my computer and the 'other' computer can access all the computers in the home network + the internet. lol
