I'm planning on purchasing a new router, but I can't decide over which I should choose: Netgear or D-Link. What do you folks recommend?

I definitely prefer Dlink routers over Netgear or Linksys.
ANNNNNNNND...
NewEgg has the DI-604 for $46 + $6 shipping, or the DI-704P for $55 + $5 shipping. The 704P will also act as a print server for all your computers.

Just wondering...
What makes you prefer D-Link over Netgear/Linksys?
Maybe quality or cost-effectiveness?

My Linksys hasn't ever let me down. They are a little more on the expensive side but are very good. D-Link would be my 2nd choice.
Linksys cards are good to. got a home network w/ them and haven't had any probs.

Actually, it's both quality and cost. The Dlinks are very easy to set up (plug it it, hook it up and turn on the power ).
Although, for network cards I prefer Linksys FastEthernet cards because they use the Realtek 8139 chipset, I've never had an OS compatibility problem with them.

ACtually, I got another DI-704P router. Works very well. I stuck a Netgear NIC in my main box and it works out pretty good
Do any of you know what chipset the Netgear FA310TX uses? Thats the one I have.

Are you running ZoneAlarm? If you are you need to uninstall it and reinstall it so that it configures itself to work with the router.
Also, you should power everything down and then power them up in this order:
1. Cable/DSL modem
2. Router
3. Each computer
This allows the DHCP functions to work smoother

I keep buying Dlink (well I get "friends of Dlink" pricing) but I've never had a problem. Also in Canada Dlink gives us lifetime warrenty on all their products.
I currently use Dlinks DI-614+ wireless router/gateway at home.
Before I used a Linksys 4 port broadband router and had nothing but problems with it. I had to put a small hub between it and my shaw modem for it to work. I asked Linksys about this and they told me it wasn't their problem. Nice!
