Tell me... where have I gone wrong?
Ok here's the story: Almost 2 weeks ago my nephew had his PC brought to me because his computer is showing images in black and white and there's no sound. It turns out he also lost his motherboard installation CD. I was able to download the VGA driver from the internet and now his computer's back on colorx
The problem now is the sound. When I try to download the audio device driver for his computer, the download stops before it finishes downloading. The nearest I got was 99%... 99% and still the downloading stops I've been at it for 2 weeks with no progress. Can somebody give me some answers here
Oh yeah, specs: CPU - Intel Celeron 633 Mhz
MOBO: Intel Motherboard with SiS 5595 Chipset
MEMORY: 64 MB SDRAM
SOUNDCHIP: CMI 87388
Am using dial-up modem AT 56kbps with IE6.0. And no I can't afford ISDN, cable or DSL
Please help; my nephew needs his computer ASAPThanks for the reply; sorry if I can't answer quickly :)

Use a download manager to get the drivers.
Or, search for an alternative download location for the drivers.

What sound drivers do you need? The sound chip driver you have listed can not be found using google - CMI 87388

I don't know if this is what you're looking for , but that sound sounded familiar. ECS has boards that use a CMI8738 chipset. One less "8" on the end Do you know the maker of the board? Anyway here is a link.ECS Driver page I have an ECS driver disc somewhere that probably has them on it too if you need it, I'll look .

Thanks guys; your support was overwhelmingly helpful My nephew's sound problem is solved Ironically i didn't have to go to the internet to solve it I went to the mall, just found a PC shop which sells drivers of different models and found one that's for my nephew. Installed it and voila - The hills are alive with the sound of music
Thanks again fellasThanks for the reply; sorry if I can't answer quickly :)
