ok I use a Linksys.. so I'll try to explain this.. under your router options.. u should see some option about a DMZ.. what this does.. is put your computer around the firewall.. if u don't.. then your system remains behind the firewall.. and no one will be able to connect to your bulletproof server..
Also.. the IP u list for your computer.. is the IP the router has given your computer.. your real IP is different then what you listed.. and without that IP.. no one will be able to connect to your computer even if u have your system around the firewall..

the router is the firewall is on all times there is no way to disable it
in the multi ip area here is a pic to help you set up highlighted in yellow
the second box you want to enable and put in the ip address that the ISP has given you. like mine is 68.*.*.* (not the 192.168.1.* number your router gives you.) to make it simpler click here
then you put in the port range below.

You may have to set the ports higher if you use passive mode, above 1024. Having the passive port rage at 21 caused me problems even though I use port 21 for my ftp and it is assigned as port 21 in the general tab. My passive mode IP had to be the one I use to connect to my router, 192.168.0.2 for you, it would not work at all with the IP my ISP assigned me.
Some routers do not allow loopback so you may have to have someone else login to see if it is working or not if you have not already done that.
I don't know much about this other than what I had to do to get mine to work. It may vary depending on the router you use. |

| Dlink di-704p and bulletproof ftp server
I currently have a dlink DI-704p router/switch and have tired to use Serv-u and bulletproof ftp servers and have a problem. When one of my friends try to log on they timed out when getting the list. Another friend of mine who uses it can log on and everything if fine. The person who times out can log on other ftp servers without a problem. I have ports 20/21 open and using port range 9000-9100. The ftp ports are forwarded through my router to the correct host machine. Anyone have ANY ideas as to why this is happening. Also I have my server set for passive mode ftp. |
