I changed the settings on a Win2000 computer from a Domain to a workgroup, restarted and now the Novell client will not let me login in to my workstation. I didn't change any user names or passwords. I am putting a check in the logon workstation only box. Any ideas on how I can get in and fix the settings.

if you removed the machine from the domain, then you need to have a local acct to log into the machine. either that or hope that you can use a cached domain account (provided the security settings permit using it). |

I doubt it's Novell stopping you. When you change from domain to workgroup, you can not use the domain account anymore. It must be a user account on the local computer.
To verify which you are loggin into, hit the advanced button and then the windows tab, it should show either your machine name or the domain name depending on which you are trying to log on to.

It shows the machine name, but I cannot login. It's like the machine disabled my local account |

if you don't know the local admin password:
1) if the partition is ntfs, you will need to d/l a utility to write to the SAM to reset the password
2) if the file system is FAT, you can use a dos boot disk to do the same. |

explanations as follows:
1) (d/l) download a utility (usually linux based) that will allow you to access/write to the SAM
2) dos boot disks can be found at www.bootdisk.com |

1 - Is it the Novell Client or the MS client for netware?
2 - Did you set up the Novell client?
It sounds like the Novell client has been set to force a login. There are some options in the NW client settings that control how you can login. If you have changed something that now violates these settings, there's about one way to fix it. Boot in safe mode (no network) and change the associated Novell settings.

I tried the safeboot method, it is act Win2000 that is blocking me now. This is computer from work, and they will give me the admin login to fix the problem. I have to ship the notebook back them to fix |
