Extended boot time.
-Toshiba 1800 S203 Laptops
-3Com FE575C PCMCIA NIC cards
We have 2 of this setup and are getting very extended boot times with a NIC installed in the card slot and not connected to a network. We also have some Compaq V300 laptops with NIC's installed in the card slot and Compaq 110-S laptops with integrated NIC's that don't have this problem.
If we hook the Toshiba laptops up to a network and then boot, the extended boot time is not an issue. If we remove the NIC cards from the card slot before booting then the extended boot time is not an issue.
DHCP is not selected on the Laptops. They all have a static IP. TCPIP and NetBEUI are the protocols in use.
Any ideas?
Mike

Sounds like they are trying to become List Masters. You need to turn of Browse Master/LM Announce.

That's what we have being having to do with these Toshiba laptops. It's puzzling why it doesn't effect the Compaq laptops.
So Judas, should I set Browse Master and LM Announce to Disabled? They are set to Automatic now. The OS is Win98 SE on both units, BTW.Originally posted by Judas

Hi If you installed Avira Antivirus correctly before, the above step should help you uninstall it successfully. Click Start menu and go to Control Panel.
