Serving on Optimum Online

I used to run a webiste munkys.com and I want to bring it back up again. I host on my comp on port 1111. I'm afraid of being shutdown by my provider...any recomondations as to how i can protect myself and my site?

well running it if they say no isn't such a good idea. i did that with ATTBI and got caught. they threw a fit and i got speakeasy DSL. 2 static IPs, rock solid connection, great tech support. $90/month (for DSL) as compared to $45/mnth for cable. you get what you pay for...

but really, if you run it on port 111 they'll never see it. so... your pretty much safe.

well then the only way you can protect yourself is to change the port every couple weeks. kind of a pain in the rear.

OOL has thrown down the gauntlet. They will cap the service of anyone whose account shows excessive uploads. So my advice, find a cheap host. In the long run, you'll save.
