My strange network . .help plz

Hi

i have 2 PC's connected via 2 ethernet 10/100mbit cards and a shed loada CAT5 Twisted pair cable (no hubs, routers or switches) file sharing works great. but single player gameing (not over the network) is a little strange, gameplay is choppy."it stutters/pauses" in gameplay, im pretty sure its not game related becasue it happens with all games.. i just cant work out why.

if i disable my NIC gameplay is fine

any ideas?

It could be beacuse you NIC is running on softwere(crappy none exstant) drivers. I had a problem just like that. I simply swiched NIC's. Hope that helpz.

thanx for the reply .. i did think about that, "its a its a non-branded card (standard NIC)" i tried the winxp driver and the drver for the card but nothin changes. maybe i should trya different NIC.

its just really annoying at the moment

go to the device manager and bring up the properties for both.

Click on the advanced tab.Set the connection type to anything other than auto.make sure both are set the same and that both cards can handle that setting.

no mines the generic one just bought a cheap one from a computer shop.. the other is a realtek which is "onboard" a gigabyte mobo. that pc works fine, sharing and singleplayer/multiplayer gaming... but mines pauses while playing (singleplayer) only for about 1 second or so every 15 seconds.

Ace - ive changed it form auto will do the same on the other card tomorrow

OMG it worked .. i changed the connection type to 100MB full duplex and it works, no more pauses or stutters during gameplay in single player .. but still get the occasional crash though..
