opera as my browser

Not sure about the way this is supposed to work. I downloaded opera, AOL is my isp. So, when I log on to AOL, goes to their home page, then I click on Opera Icon?
Guess there is no way to click on opera on desktop and get hooked up to web,via AOL?
A little confused about this

I had AOL a while back and I was in a simular situation. I didnt like the AOL browser so I thought I'd use IE instead.

But I had no Luck!

I don't even think its possible with AOL, but I might be wrong.

In the end I got so annoyed that I changed ISP's.

May I advise you changing to a real ISP? Or recommend to the person who got this account to do so? The cons of using AOL is getting more and more apparent, over pricing, lack of customer support, poor connection speed and uptime. Its horrendous, and on top of that, you have to use their proprietary software.

The is really no reason to stay with AOL, they offer nothing you cannot get thru another ISP, unless you like going to the chatrooms to meet police officers pretending to be little boys and girls.

They just lost 100 billion dollars this past year... Better bail, get off the sinking ship, before it takes you with it.

Anyway =) When I had AOL about 7 years ago, I would use their software to get on, then minimise it and open up IE to surf. It sorta worked back then, not sure if that is the case anymore.

You can use another browser with your AOL account. There are plenty of reasons to use another provider. Being tied to their all-in-one browser and content software is not one of them.

Hi,

I use AOL as my main ISP.

I also use Opera 7 as my preferred browser. I just connect via AOL and leave it running in the background.

I use AOL because it has reasonable charges for an ISP here in the UK and I can get access anywhere in the world when I am away at work.

Cheers

Thanks for your info, I know how a lot of folks feel about AOL, but that's not what I was really after. Appreciate your opinions
