| BSOD, AOL caused a General Protection Fault in AOL.exe
My UPS driver got one of the Dell units from me.
A couple of years back he got a new homebuilt, I cautioned him about the AOL software, he used it anyway.
Now the new Dell is pukeing all over the place and locking down with Aol BSOD's
All I can say is I Told You So |

I hope you told him "I told you so."
I have been trying to get a couple I know to get away from AOL. They have that "Free Six Months" that they got w/ the PC. I told 'em not to get used to it and actually go w/ a REAL ISP. Keeping my fingers crossed . . . |

Every relative I have uses AO Hell. It's now considered off limits to ask me any AOL related questions at any family gathering. I'm made my views clear that if they want to use that crappy software they'll have to call AOl and get support from them - It's their Crap.
(Needless to say I don't asked many questions at the holidays anymore....)

The same folks above, had their son-in-law setup OE to check their AOL mail . . . I know what your'e thinking.
He had the POP mail server as "POP" and the SMTP server as "SMTP". I did give him credit for tyring at least. Then of course I broke it to them that they were not getting their mail through OE. That the "You've got mail" was coming from AOL in the background behind the OE screen.
Man I hope they swich. |

Yeah, you've got to give him credit for trying. I don't think I could have kept a straight face while explaining his errors though... Not to be mean either - he just made two really funny mistakes...
And yes - I do hope they switch.. |

So what was the true point of this thread? Jack $h!t in my not so humble opinion.....Just more AOL bashing..... and just about everyone knows I dont use AOL normally...
Hell I installed and used AOL while on my business trip to Columbus Ohio back in January. Was issued a company laptop to take can the hotel's net connection was out so I grabbed a AOL cd and installed it....Ran it for the week while I was in Ohio (Perfectly fine I might add) (OS on laptop Win2K AOL Version 8.0) and got home and uninstalled AOL. Laptop is performing just fine and has been used on several other trips since that one with NO ISSUES from AOL.
/end rant

Nobody I know uses AOL. I've never seen it live.
The only thing I hate about AOL is the quantity of CDs that they waste sending.
I'm gathering them to send a box to nomoreaolcds.com someday. |

I DON'T UNDERSTAND ANY PROBLEM WITH AOL, I'VE USE IT SENSE 3.0 ABOUT 9 YEARS, ITS THE MOST COMPACT, EASY TO USE INTERNET SERVICE AND I MIGHT ADD I'AM SURPRISED BILL GATES DIDN'T INVENT IT TO BEGIN WITH, OR AT LEAST BOUGHT IT. THE OLD WINDOWS 95 AND 98 INTERNET EXPLORER IS IN MY MIND A STONE AGE WAY OF DOING INTERNET BUSINESS, AND THE THING HASN'T CHANGED YET, HELL YAHOO IS BETTER THAN OUTLOOK / IE. WITH AOL EVERY THING IS AUTOMATED YOU JUST SIGN UP DOWN LOAD AND YOUR COMPLETE E-MAIL FILE SAVING MESSAGE ARCHIVING IS ALL IN ONE PLACE AS WELL AS A WHOLE LOT MORE ORGANIZED. TABSRUSH@AOL.COM |
