    Angry Netgear & AIM

     
    i have been tryin to help my buddy direct connect through AIM for the past 2 days, and i have a Linksys router so i am not familiar with Netgear.

    Does anyone know how to open up whatever part AIM is on, or if the router supposrt DMZ?? its a rt314....

    According to this the RT314 supports DMZ.

    You'll probably have to setup a range of ports for AIM. I'm looking to see what they would be.

    EDIT - Try allowing UDP/TCP 5190-5193 to whichever IP has the AIM direct connection.

    Hello, have you tried updating the firmware on the Netgear? I have used Netgear for a while, and never ever had to open ports for AIM, or ICQ, or MSN.

    i have been trying to get this to work with my linksys along with file sending thru IRC with no reason solution

    no i can get it to work with linksys, just have to put your IP in the DMZ Host, simple solution, leaves u vonerable but hey oh well - lol

    yah i have important stuff that i can't say "oh well" to. plus i have my ftp set up in DMZ
