    Cannot access the router settings by http://192.168.0.1

    I'm using OS W2K Prof, cable modem Netgear RP 614 as router.

    McAfee Atnivirus and Firewall were installed at the moment.

    In 10 minutes shared Internet access was established, but LAN was not working.

    I'd added NetBEUI Protocol, and lost Internet connection but gained Access to another local PC with a lot of additional firewall related problems.

    I replaced MsAfee by Norton 2002 and removed Firewall, NetBEUI.

    After a couple of hours I have:

    - Internet access is working fine again

    - No local PCs are visible again

    - Cannot access the router settings using http://192.168.0.1 anymore!!! - Gateway timeout error.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "ipconfig /all" gives correct (and same as before) Default Gateway == 192.168.0.1, and my PC as 192.168.0.2 (and .3 for another PC).
    Restarting, resettings (router, cable modem) doesn't help.
    --------
    Any idea?
    run ipconfig /renew to ensure you are still getting correct IP config. If so, then ping 192.168.0.1 ...do you get a reply?
    I did "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" at least 4 times.
    "ping 192.168.0.1" returns
    ...
    Packets:Send = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0
    ...
    All OK.
    Make sure your web browser is not set to use a proxy then try to go to http://192.168.0.1 again.
    If it still fails, try from a different machine on the LAN. If that still fails, then try restoring factory defaults to the router (consult manual for details of how).
    Why are you using internet connection sharing when you have a router?
