| I ordered a wireless router, what else do I need to connect to a 2nd computer?
I'm not an expert by any means but I have never had any trouble setting up a simple network using a switch and cables, but I'm new to wireless. I've just gotten cable, and I have ordered this router, D-Link AirPlus DI-614+ Enhanced 2.4GHz Wireless Cable/DSL Router With AP 802.11b. What else do I need (PCI Card?) for the 2nd computer that will be in another room about 30 feet away, to be able to share files and internet connection. Any website giving any help would greatly be appreciated. Besides needing to know what hardware I need, I also need to know what I need to do to both computers to protect them, Is just a program like Zone Alarm good enough or do I need more? |

yup you will need a PCI wireless card for that other computer, I recommend you get the same brand as the router.

there shouldnt be any "compaitibility issue" 802.11b cards are pretty much the same except maybe the software and there distance of communication |

real world application = real world use
Some brand cards won't work with different brand routers..and vice versa. Its not 100% compatibility, and why worry about that, when you can just ignore the problem altogether by getting the same brand?
