What do you call this kind of server app?
What do you call an app that acts like a server, sitting and waiting for a connection. When someone connects to it, it connects to a predefined server at a predefind port and simply sends everything it receives over to the other server. And everything it receives from the other server it sends back to the client. It doesn't change anything as it passes it on. This is a very simple app that I'm describing.
So, what do people call this?

proxy server
Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

Well, I know it's a proxy server, but what kind of proxy server? For example, there are pop3 proxies, http proxies, and socks proxies. But what kind is this?

There is a vintage Diaclone Grimlock in the original box on eBay. Diaclone, as in before Transformers G1. Start is $429.
