iis suddenly crashing with asp
Hey guys quick question regarding asp & iis
When I setup a personel web server or weather I pay a web hosting company the same problem usually arises. Everything is doing all fine: asp working with databases on the site.(as well as asp for dymanic html). Then weeks later, all of a sudden asp stops working all together on the site. I would get a http 500 Internal Server Error on anypage that has an .asp ending at the end. Anyone have a idea on whats causing this??? Thank for your help guys in advance

ASP
I run an ASP/IIS 5 Server on Windows 2000/SP4. I encountered the same problem. At first I couldn't figure it out, but after further research I figured it out. I will offer two reminders: The first is to make sure to set your recordsets to Nothing. Ex:
<% set rs = Nothing %>
If you are using MS Access databases, to edit copies of the database and not the database in use. Use a different copy in a different folder to make structure changes and then copy/paste over the in use copy. It has to do with the system account not releasing things right and whatnot. Hope this helps ~ Nick

kinda helps thank you though. Its not only when using asp with databases. Even when just using asp w/o any connectivity to a db it does'nt work. I lowered the security settings for IIS and that fixed the problem. However I do not think thats the long term solution.

I prefer not to be stopped in the street just because someone decided my clothes were "wrong" or my hair was "too long". I do understand and partly agree with your point, but this was too much, IMO.
Do you think this was a legitimate...
