Network Login Authentication Issue
I've got a small network, NT 4 server, and win98 workstations.
I've set up the users on the server, and configured the workstations, but for some reason, the server is allowing access regardless of what password is entered...anyone know any possible reasons for this?
I get Interent, and network access, so the login is getting authenticated, even when the passwords don't match.

Incorrect passwords should should still stop access to shares on the server that are securely shared. If the server allows Guest access, and the shares are set to Everyone = Full Control then this would be expected.
I would first investigate the Guest account (disable it if at all possible) status, and review the share permissions.
I'm not fluent with NT40 so I can't be much more specific.

Thanks, I'll check that out. Haven't touch NT4 for years either so I'm a little more than rusty.Originally posted by DVNT1

The point was, since you missed it, is that if you are going to claim someone else did the same thing, provide proof to back up your statement. If, as you said, it was "one click away".
Oh, look! A NEW Obama scandal!!!
