As in sending files from your computer to another computer via IRC? I had a similar problem with AIM and direct connection. I would try to connect to a friend and we would get an error message about conflicting firewalls.
I would check the settings for the Router as far as port blocking, etc. Probably not the problem, but it could be. I don't know which action solved my problem, but I both reset my router settings ( not just reset the router/modem ) and installed the newest version of AIM and I can send files again. Originally I couldn't once I got the router.
