Yes... I want a new ip...
In windows 2000 you release the ip address for the adapter and then renew it via the ipconfig command in the console... |

Tom Jones,
Win2k doesn't have the winipcfg command that you refer to. That was eliminated with 2k, I believe. (Or it doesn't exist on my computer.) |

I believe he is running Linux and I have no clue about that short disconnecting your modem and plugging it back in about 15 minutes later(might work) dont hold me to that.
And yeah......no more winipcfg in win 2k or winxp
You might try going to dos prompt and typing IPCONFIG
BTW, you sure you dont have a static IP right? heh.

Doing the ipconfig in windows will do nothing, because my windows IP is DHCP assigned by my router.... |

So you're wondering how to realease and renew from your router.
Not sure about your model, but on my Dlink and my linksys there are little buttons that will renew the IP.
Have you looked through the all the setup screens for the router?

Actually, i think, if you release it, and someone else requests a new one (reconnects) and your's pops up, your old one isnt there anymore and you'll get a new one.
This is how it works with my cable company i think, but once again not sure
