Doc, you had me worried, I thought your CPU was experiencing some serious pucker factor.

    oops, I did a boo-boo, it ain't a Articooler after all

    It's a Thermaltake AIRCOOLER

I was reading it upside down from across the room.

Anyway, the thing is doing the trick on the K6-3+
Now the idle temp is 29C , Scandisk's been finished about 15 min.

Radar, not really, just used the generic Zinc Oxide stuff. Looks like the Radio Shack stuff.

The Articooler is not made by thermaltake, but made by Agilent, a division of Hewlett Packard.

I have one too, on my Duron 750 @ 1Ghz, at 45C, and I picked it for its low low noise.
They say it has problems with with mounting on the Duron/Athlon, so I dont recommend it for those, even though I have one on mine (I'm afraid to remove it since I heard that).

Did you really use Preparation H?

Thermaltake Articooler on a K6-3+ comments

Well, I've given in and installed one of my K6-3+450 CPU's on a Soyo SY-5SSM

The cooler that I bought with it at the time looked ok.

So I clip it on, using a bit of Preparation H for good measure.

    Temps were a bit warm at the get-go @ 35c ~

After 30 min of ScanDisk the temp went out the roof to 52.4C

So I rummaged around and found this Thermaltake Articooler.

(At first I attempted to install a Golden Orb, no clearance on the capacitors and I didn't wanna grind it)

Took the Articooler to the basement and filed the surface smooth, it has ridges so lapping is not feasable.

Fired it back up and after over an hour of Scandisk & Defrag the system has never exceeded 32C

    More better

Just FYI information for those using Celerys & K6's that just cuz the CPU is an old thing, don't scrimp on the cooling.
