Many Apologies for the silent treatment!! Woops.. RTFM!

If your Windows 2000 Server posts the following events to the Application event log, every five minutes, your local Group Policy database file is corrupt

This is definitely not what I am experiencing.
I don't have a server version of Windows either.

Oh ok, I understand now, this might help:

01. Create an OldSecurity subfolder at %SystemRoot%\Security.

02. Move the log files and chk file from %SystemRoot%\Security\logs to %SystemRoot%\Security\OldSecurity.

03. Move the database from %SystemRoot%\Security\Database\Secedit.sdb to %SystemRoot%\Security\OldSecurity and change the file extension to .old.

04. Start / Run / MMC / OK.

05. Console / Add/Remove Snap-in.

06. Add the Security and Configuration Analysis snap-in. Press Close and OK.

07. Right-click Security and Configuration Analysis and press Open Database.

08. Navigate to the %SystemRoot%\Security\Database folder, type Secedit.sdb into File name, and press Open.

09. When prompted to import a template, select Setup security.inf.

10. Press Open. Ignore any Access Denied error.

11. Right-click Security and Configuration Analysis and press Configure Computer Now.

I already knew about the repair option. Nothing for me though.
I am looking for a fix without the need of doing a repair.

Maybe somehow one of your system databases are corrupted. So you should do a "repair" on your system without formatting. And this is how you do it: insert your windows xp pro cd, boot your computer from the cd, go through the steps until you are at Installing, press enter, then agree the license agreement then press "r" for repairing your system files and follow the rest of the steps. I hope this will help you.

Windows XP Professional.

Yes, the Group Policy Editor is included in Windows XP.
Although not in the "Home" edition, only in the "Professional" version of XP.

Any chance you can tell us all what error you are getting?

"Group Policy Editor" Issue!

Whenever I try to change any settings in the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) I get an error.
The issue seems to be related to the local policy database. It fails to save it.

Have no idea why I am getting this, anyone has a clue?
