    oops.. i forgot another part... if ur steam is updating for like last 5 hours then either u probably have to disable firewall or your steam file may be corrupted.

    thats tru.. buh half life 2 preload means it will download a program which will download half life once it comes out and until u payed for it, not only that, i never believe buying and downloading from steam. its total bs!!!

    Suggestion-dunt buy it from steam, buy half life 2 from a trustworthy store

    exactly

    I also hate the fact that you can't delete your account and gain your CD key back by yourself

    What's with the preloading of HL2? I understand that when it's available you can then buy it and play it immediately...but it's preloading onto everyone's PC who has steam, right? I have no intention of buying it and using steam to download...will buy at the store.

    Does this mean that right now we all have the full version of HL2 on our hard drives, but can't play it? I haven't bothered to look - but is it encrypted? Is there anything that can be done with the preload?

    whats the point of it anyway? OK you can preload HL2 on it and it will update your games, but why don't they just lump them all into a patch and I also don't understand why it has to cache everything.

    Doesn't make sense to me.

    *nods and agrees...

    Sometimes you need to close steam down and reopen it for the update to work.

    Ok, Steam now sucks

    You know, when steam came out, I held on to the idea of basically redoing the whole way a game runs, and I stuck with Steam. Steam the really amazed me with it's ability to automatically update itslef and my games. Steam seems to be worse and worse as the day go by, but hey, these are the people that are gonna release (some darn time) the best game in the world, so I stuck with Steam. Then my entire Half-Life 2 preload got deleted for no apparent reason, and I couldn't just redownload it, I had to reinstall steam and all my games.

    Today, I want to play CS: Source, but there is an update. I don't know how big the update is, I never do. The darn thing has been updating for the past 5 hours. Right now it is doing nothing. I can start the game, but can't play any games.

    It's supposed to be updating itself, but there should be some definative way to download a update and install the darn Steam.

    I am very angry and just want to play a simple game.

    Steam has lost a willing follower. Now, I use it just because I have to.

    "Summary" = Steam SUCKS.
