Power DVD isn't worth $50. There are freeware DVD players available from the internet. I believe that ATI will send you a DVD player on the video driver disk for $10.

JayMan is right... It is part of the Trial. It says at the DL site something about 5 minutes of Audio. I remember this from a while back when I was trying to decide on either WinDVD or PowerDVD. I dl'd both trial versions to check out and one had sound cut out and the other stopped running after the same amount of time. If I remember correctly, the only dif between the two that I could see was that PowerDVD offered surround natively and WinDVD didnt... however, the surround was not part of the trialware.

It confused me the first time around... hehe. I expected it to be full trialware for 30 days... I didnt read the trialware specifications. I tried to trouble shoot for a while thinking it was my system and DVD player. THe last thing I did was go back to the site and check the trialware info.... LOL.

Are you sure that is not part of the "trial"?

I used to have powerdvd xp running on win2k using just the normal output (not digital) and i had no problems at all with the full version.

audio cuts out with powerdvd xp 4.0

i just installed my dvd drive (16x pioneer from newegg) and i downloaded the powerdvd xp (4.0) trial to play dvd's on my pc... now it plays fine, but after about five minutes, the @$%!%#^~%audio cuts out. i can get it back by stopping and restarting the movie, but that's annoying to do every five minutes.

any ideas? right now i can't hook up via digital audio, broke the connector off the cable when i was trying to get it out of my cdrom i have a feeling that trying to do this through analog is half of the problem. does anyone agree?

please help! i want to get this working properly.

ps - this is on win2k, with my p3 600, 256 mb ram, ati xpert2000 (rage 128 chipset with dvd acceleration built in) and sb live! mp3+ 5.1.
