You can buy a good Linksys/Netgear router for under $50 at a best buy, office max. Use your PS3 or any device that has a built in app from Netflix. there are a lot of them out there.
Thanks for all the responses, after working on this problem, the family has suddenly moved away with nary a thank you for the free hardware I've given them and the work I (and you) have put into this request.
Thanks for the help
I've set up many wireless routers for customers and am very impressed with the Cisco line of routers. If they are looking to get a wireless router to use netflix from their wii or ps3 gaming system I would definitely recommend the Cisco N Wireless Router, average price $69 from Wal-Mart, Best-Buy, etc.
OK, I think you may have misunderstood..
You need to get a wired or wireless lan signal from their current router to the WII.
(not to the TV)
that requires a wireless router, (Wii has a native wireless receiver built in), or a wired connection from the Modem or router to a lan to USB adapter made for the Wii (Bestbuy has a Rocketfish adapter for Wii for around $15)
The Wii uses that ethernat connection to tap into th Netflix account and display it on the TV through the Wii connection..
So instead of putting in a game disk, the choose the Wii channel, and play streaming movies over the internet.
Sorry if this is sounding condescending by spelling it out, but I get the feeling you may have been confused by something in the process and I figured it was better to lay it out fully..
Here's a link I've used before to help explain to my customers
How to Setup Netflix for Wii | eHow.com
Thanks, JPM, I wondered about all that,, a simple and painless fix.
UHHHH, can you simply hook up the USB cable directly to the TV, it has a input like the ones on a computer. If so, they might be able to rearrange the room to accommodate the setup...
Your overthinking this...
Just buy the cheapest wireless router you have easy access to and hook it up
The wii will see it and you start streaming Netflix after adding it from the shopping channel
Easy as that
Why can't they just use a long cable directly to the TV, as It's a modern Vizio, so new as to have "LED" back light instead of fluorescent.
The cable going from the DSL box to the Computer looks like a generic USB,
I forget what the max distance on USB is, anyone ?
IF this is NOT an option, I'll get the model number to check Vizio's website to check for wireless compatibility and to what devices.
Otherwise, I'm more confused now after looking at routers.
Do I need to check these things ->>
Wii support or Vizio internal router reception
WPA / WPA2
encryption protocol or is this the same as Network
Only thing I can say is "uhhh-duuh-uh"
Thanks for the patience
I agree, Grandma gave the kids wii for xmas last year. With an older belkin D7250-4 54g wireless router both found each other without any issue. Been using netflix thru wii ever since.
Not reading the manual, I slapped a spare usb wireless card on the wii anyway not realizing it already have one built in. Took it out and used the built in card once I found out.
yes, I have almost the same exact setup and further away.
all they have to do is go to the wii shopping channel, add the Netflix account and configure the signal from the wireless router.
Its simple enough and there are tons of walkthroughs all over Bing.
Heres a few affordable options for Wireless Routers if you cant find better on Craigslist that is...
( if going with Craigslist, a good wireless G router is fine, if its the right price.)

They do have a Wii Game, can I hook it up to the router and watch it on the TV ?
It's about 20' away through a wooden wall.

Netflix: Rent as many movies as you want for only $8.99 a month! Free Trial
A Roku box runs about $100 (with wireless). They could run off a laptop provided the laptop supports a resolution of 1920x1080, which most newer lappies can.
The other things to check would be the speed required for streaming.
Uh Duh, gee I dunno any of those questions.
They want netflix, but balked at Netflix's offer to sell them a box for payments of $19.95 for three months, so they don't have it yet.
well, I got them a new Visio LED LCD TV,
it has a USB port like goes to a computer, not the small end for the printer.
2 what look like firewire ports
and several others
I guess I need to know what kind of car we're working on besides the fact that it's white
Theres Alot more options than just 3...
Many TV models have native support, Wii, XBox360, standard PC, etc.
What are they using to access the netflix account, and what are they watching the signal on?
Your short answer is... nearly any wireless router should work fine as long as its not too far away from the set.
What device will they be using to watch Netflix? There are three options, a Netflix-enable Blu-ray player, a dedicated Roku box (which would require its own wireless adapter), or a laptop.
Wireless Router for Netflix suggestions
I have a family nearby who have little in the way of extras,, at this point the have no Cable, Satellite or Antenna TV reception.
The only luxury the have now is a decent DSL Modem,
[something like 80k/sec is what I observed during a download]
Anyway, they are asking about a wireless router, I've "heard" of them but know nothing at all..
Will someone give me a hint at what might work for Netflix, from Newegg hopefully ?
