your not getting what we're saying.

in order to use Eyefinity for 3 Monitor support, you NEED to use the DisplayPort, which you can use as a DP if your monitor HAS a DisplayPort input, which most don't.

OR

You can use an Active DisplayPort Adapter that Converts it to an HDMI or DVI Port.

To Use along with the existing HDMI And DVI on the card for 3 monitor support.

Either way the DP HAS TO be used, otherwise your stuck with Dual Monitor Support, and use of 3 Cards instead of 2.

I'm not sure you can used the HDMI port, as a third monitor, but even if you can, the adapter you posted, is the other way.
It would go from the video cards DVI port, to the TVs HDMI.

If they exist, and I'm not sure they do, it would have to be a female DVI.

Not sure on the monitors, as I usually only Game on a single 24" Display... or soon in the coming months a 32" 720p LCD TV. (Living Room, Secondary PC for Home Theater and Light/moderate Gaming)

as to DP Adapters, unsure on that as well, as I've never used Display Port before, most of my Radeon cards I have here (few that I do have) don't have a Display Port, their all VGA, DVI or HDMI ports.

But I have seen some other brands on other sites for much less than this, but their all Passive (non Powered) Display Port Adapters.

I have seen a couple Active ones for a few bucks less, but then when you factor in shipping its about the same anyways.

This whole DisplayPort Adapter thing is one of the wrenches AMD has thrown into its own Gears... Between the prices for these things, along with the lack of DisplayPort equipped monitors, 3 Screen or more Eyefinity is something many Gamers still don't bother with unless they really have the money to throw away on it.


Which sucks. If they would improve the idea and ditch the requirement for a DisplayPort to be used for 3 or more monitor support, I can guarantee the sales would increase dramatically on those cards.

Or even find a way to get by with Passive DisplayPort Adapters, by actively powering the damn connection on the card, which makes sense really, and why they don't do this already is beyond me.

but if you have the extra money to use on a couple Active DP Adapters, then that would be your best bet, and then just use HDMI or DVI connections to the Monitors.

The latter would need a 2nd lesser card for the 6th display, but gaming wise it should be more than enough for one display to game on.

Otherwise, the first one can handle 6 displays, and is a good mid range/lower mid range class gaming card.


Stroyal's right, normally for 3 monitor Eyefinity you need an active display port adapter to use the one DP along with the additional DVI/HDMI connections on the card, unsure if on a card like this if you'd need to use Active DP adapters for all 6 though?

And add even more to that, you'd need one that converts Mini DP to HDMI or DVI if your monitors don't have DP inputs (which most don't).

Adding a ton of money to the price of the card, probably easily almost reaching one third to half the price of the card itself.

getting the cheaper 5 DP card, with a 2nd lesser one would be more affordable.

Or even a couple of Triple display support cards.

Asus is almost always overpriced, paying for the name, Asrock is owned by Asus so in many cases you getting similar products.

With those 2 6770's you could even get a bit cheaper Power supply still capable of running the whole system (each card only uses about 108W of power)

All these cards support Eyefinity, the 6770 is the start of high performance gaming.

You where spending 300+ on three cards, 2 $150 card would get into very high performance gaming.

You need an adapter for the third monitor, with Eyefinity, but the gamers, can clear that up for you.

I think it is an Active Display Port Adapter.


The other thing I don't know, is how hard it is to switch from Crossfire, to plane multiple monitors.

one card is pretty high on the gaming scale though.

Currently I only play League of Legends occasionally. Which ATI/AMD cards do you suggest?

There will be better experts, on later, but I'm not sure 600watts is enough for 3 450s.
The general rule of thumb I go by is 400watts for the first card, and 200watts each for the second, and third. That's for SLI though.

Also 2 ATI/AMD cards will run 6 monitors, and there are inexpensive nvidia cards that will run more than 2, not many Nvidia cards run more than 2 though.
