    Loving it!!!

Well, got it yesterday... Sager NP5660, 2.53GHz, Mobility 9000, 512MB ram and 40GB 5400RPM. 3DMark2001SE was 6639 without tweaking. Not bad for a laptop! Only problem I am having is with the Mic/Audio in port. I am about to reinstall the drivers. Other than that I am in love.

    Laptop

How loud is the 5660 laptop? Are the fans loud considering it has a hotter chip to cool? Also, how loud is the fan on the power cable?

I'm asking these questions because I plan to use my laptop (hopefully a Sager) to program while watching TV or being around my wife, and a loud laptop would drive her and me crazy.

I have been doing alot of looking arround and just recently purchased a Sager 5660 from www.pctorque.com and i did find out from Sager them selfs that the graphics setup is soldered in.

you cannot upgrade the graphics cards on sager notebooks. you can..however upgrade the cpu....

Does anyone know if Sager 5660 graphics upgradable?

The 5660 does not allow for Video capture. I would have liked the 888x, but it was too big. So instead I just ordered this USB tv/fm tuner that has a built in antenna and allows for coaxial input. It is a full MPEG1-2 encoder and will encode tv, video in stream, and FM radio to WAV. Not bad for $62 after shipping. Here is where I got it from. I should also have my new Sager 5660 by the beginning of next week!

Hi guys I was just missing being here, university kept me kindda busy anyways here I am =)

Just need to make sure, of one thing does the sager 5660 have S-VIDEO IN so record video and encode in MPEG (hardware based) or 888x model is the only one offering it?

Think it carefully I like the options 5660 offer like using 2 simultaneous battery modules, but I won't be able to have a type III slot. Is there any USB device so I can enable it to work as a TV-tuner?
I hear your comments , cya guys.

The upshot is that today, powernotebooks.com has the 5400RPM (instead of the 4200RPM( available, so I upgraded, and sprung the extra $15 for the Next Day shipping. As usualy, the now infamous Donald at powernotebooks.com was extremely understanding and helpful. Try that with a [big vendor] order.

Hopefully it will get here and I can get started on that review!
Unions blow. Those guys make $100k+ a year, and they're complaining? They're lazy, unskilled manual laborers... what a joke. Hope you get it soon.

infamous: having a reputation of the worst kind

    I don't think that's what you intended :P

Experience with dell so far... they couldn't process my debit card, and I didn't find out until I called to ask why it was still "processing." I had my bank raise my daily limit and asked them to try again.... as far as I can tell, they still have not charged it, and my bank only raises the limit for a day, which I told them. So I decided to cancel my order and submit another using 2 cards.... I can't cancel my order, because the esales department leaves before everyone else on saturday and is closed on sunday!

There was also a lot of me being transferred to closed departments. All in all, Dell is starting to piss me off.

only the 888x series has the tuner.. and most people have an outlet available a lot of the time, so unless you're going to be out a ton, batter life shouldn't be that much of a problem

Avicus so definitely the best choice is going with Sager 5660 as to use simultaneously 2 battery packs giving 3 hours of battery life ( I wonder how much heat will the 2 battery will produce )

By the way the only model giving video-capture feature is sager 888x ? or is it also abailavale on sager 5660 ?
