    Dyeing CD Tray

I'm going to be dyeing my burners face plate and was wondering if it's safe to dye the cd tray as well?

    Thanks for the info.

I like to use Krylon Fusion. As long as you take your time and apply very light coats of dye, you'll have excellent results.

I usually spray tray-n-all. Degrease first, rubbing alcohol works ok, then tape off. I just spray in a large 3-sided cardboard box. Couple of light coats usually does it. dries fast.

I use DupliColor from an auto supply retailer. I'm sure other vd's work fine too.

If that flakes on inside though at all it will dirty the laser lense. I would die it not paint it. Die cant physically flake off. As long as its for plastic it wont harm the tray at all. I got the plastic die at auto shop before. For dashboards and the side panels. Check Advanced autoparts or similar. It will say safe for Vynal, plastic etc.

Cool, thanks for the replies guys. I was wondering one more thing, for the metal sides and top of my case, is it better to use regular spray paint and then later apply a clear coat or should I use dye? Which would give a better/more durable result?

    Thanks again.
