I love it!
I just wanna know, who sits around and goes, "Boy, it sure would be neat to put a window on my HD."
What's next a windowed floppy?
I have come to the conclusion that the "pioneers" of modding are completely insane.

My question is, WHY?? Case windows are bad enough, but they don't really have the potential to break a critical component if you do them before you install the hardware (DUH!).
But this - why try to kill a perfectly good HDD just for "fun"?? regardless of what the instructions say on that site, a humid bathroom is not going to stop dust and skin scales falling off of YOU while you do this. Just stupid (IMO)!
I don't understand some people. It's a bit like modding my car by hacking off the top and putting on plastic. It's unsafe. Definitely not only voids the warranty but makes it potentially dangerous for other users.
IMO anyway. | |

If only i had a few important things then i would try this mod...
if i:
1. Had a window in my case
2. could mount the HDD in view
3. had a neon light (would make it look so much funkier)
4. had a dremel
5. had enuff guts to do it
6. MOST IMPORTANTLY - had enuff money to replace the drive when i sneeze and stuff it up! hehe

I'm surprized that the plastic window near a spinning platter doesn't create static issues.....
If I were to do something like this I would leave my data drive alone, but maybe grab an old 200 MB or 1 GB drive and mod it for display only.....it looks just as cool without keeping data on it! Supply the needed power and it will spin!
Sorry...my data is too important. |
