I have a difficult choice. You make it 4 me
Three CPU coolers intended for the XP braton 2500 on an Abit NF7-S2 mobo:
Contender No.1: Asus
http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=Star%20Ice&langs=01
Contender No. 2: Zalman
Zalman CNPS5100-AlCu
Contender No. 3: Glacialtech
Limba 2000 dual fan
Those are the only three options, so no outside contestents. Help and advice is greatly appreciated.
Noise is not an issue. I just want maximum cool.
Thanx

I have a glacialtech fan, cooling barton 2500+ (it's older model glacialtech), seems to keep it somewhere in 40c's or so.
I have nothing but good to say about the fan, it's extremely quiet and does it's job.
The asus hsf seems a bit heavy, and won't probably do much better job than the others.

Yeah I get that, but what about the socket thing? It says something liek K7/K8. What is that. Would it fit on my mobo/processor?

May 27th, 2005, 09:37 AM #5speaking on that, what do you use for your overclocking vikeor? I was considering buying a Thermalright XP-90Copper for my prescott, because it can hit above 60*C during heavy load and has hit 70* running FAD...

May 27th, 2005, 11:06 AM #7The K8 CPU's are the A64's and the K7 CPU's are the Socket 7's and early Athlon Slot A's.

Actually, I believe the Socket7 cpu's were the K6's. The K7 designation applies to all of the Athlon, AthlonXP, and Duron processors.

K7 are Socket A, K6 and K6-2 are Socket 7.

K8 = Socket 740, 939, and 940
K7 = Socket A and Slot A
K6 = Socket 7Robert Richmond | Infinite perceptions. One reality.
