iv just ordered the 12" Cold cathode tubes off ebuyer. these are the second ones i bought as the these are going in my car. looking at the ones in my PC i dont think the wires will be long enough. the car runs on a standard 12V battery. my question is what sort of wire do i need? will speaker cable be ok i do i need another type?
Thanks up front. |

Speaker wire is fine. Ive run 1800 volts on speaker cable before for a pair of black lights in my car. Since their low current the gauge can be small but they must have decent insulation or they will arc. The wire is probably only rated for 400 or 600 volt by the way so try it at your own risk

High voltage will arc through the air and cause a short instead of travelling throught the wire like you would want. When you have and arc of electricity you create a potential fire hazard thats why i say try at your own risk. |

use heat shrink tubing after you solder the wires that you decide to use... i would guess a spool or a lil roll of 16gauge speaker wire should work...
