9 HUH?
To be honest I read those server boards you mention run hot and are special requirements in selecting parts.
I don't like the 8600's and I feel if buying a new video card, get the latest and best card can afford.
Some of the newer games very intensive.
Will the 8600 even fit in the micro case?
The idea of using the micro cases sounds cool until all your hardware easily overheats.
This is all great stuff. I like big server cases and running cool.
So with that I rate this around a 6. |

Welcome to TechIMO!
For one, what do you plan to do with this rig?
If gaming is the case, drop the FX and spend the money on a Core 2 duo. And with the money also saved, get an 8800gt.
Get a more reliable brand PSU and get a non-server mobo.
Otherwise it looks good |

Ouch with the 6/10, to be fair, if it does run hot, Liquid Cooling is always an option...
And also, the Nvidia 8600GTS is a nice card as it wipes the floor with ATi and falls short only to the 8800 series, which, on some games, it actually beats (except the Ultra of course)
I'm planning to use it for gaming, but the Core 2 Duo's are pricey and the AMD gives similar/better results for a LOT cheaper...
As for the PSU, the company actually get some good reviews, and its not bad price, not cheap and likely to fall apart, but not OTT price range...

Agreed? | External liquid cooling i suppose, ha ha.
Like I said get whatever video card you can afford, I myself like the 8800 variety.
While I'm at it I might as well mention what I recently read.
ATI will support the new dx10 updates and Nvidia will not?
I did not research this yet but interesting to know.
I still like the Nvidia cards better though, seems every model something is missing from either ATI and Nvidia at different times. |

Not to be argumentive, but the 8600gts doesn't wipe the floors with ATi, let alone surpass any 8800 series card.
Also, if it does run hot, liquid cool it? Well to me, in a small case that's just wayyy too much trouble then it's worth. When you can get a full-tower and cooler running mobo for cheaper. |

I spose that's true, I will look into a new mobo, and a full size case, but Socket-F mobos are a bugger to find.
I would rather stick with the 8600GTS, and, although it doesnt wipe the floor with ATi, it puts up a hefty fight, no competition from the HD2600XT and just comes up short on the HD2900XT
With a bigger case, Liquid cooling would be more feasible, I think with the price hop from a server mobo to a normal one, it is worth buying a big case and liquid cooling instead of the new mobo
Cheers
