| Gateway Power supply Question
Just picked up a Gateway 831GM. I need to know if the power supply in this thing can be replaced with an aftermarket psu. What i would like to do is drop an 8600 GT in this rig, but the power supply is an Bestec 300w.
It is an atx psu. I want to give this rig to my son.
Thanx in advance for any reply's |

Yes, you should be able to replace it with any standard ATX power supply.

if not, i have found with factory built systems aftermarket parts may not beable to go into them but they will go into aftermarket cases which will take the aftermarket parts if your psu dosnt fit, see if the mother board will fit in another case |

Oh well! I picked up the machine for a small amount of money that was owed to me.
Iam not a big fan of prebuilt systems, this will be going to my 10yr old. Just wanted to hook him up with a decent card,so the power supply would be needed.
I own a Gateway Lappy that ive never had any problems with so to each his own |

That should be a perfect system for a 10yr old. I'm sure he'll enjoy having his "very own" computer. |
