| darn that onboard gigabit lan
i have an asus p5ne sli board
the onboard lan on that board doesnt seem to be working ....:@ , the activity is 0 and i tried updating and refreshing drivers that doesnt seem to work .... is my onboard lan out of order or something ??  |

Go to the control pannel, click on system, go to the hardware tab and click device manager. See if there is a ! on the network adapter icon or if its even there to start with.
Well then you could try an add on card if you have one.

hardware is detected but the activity seems to be 0 but ewxternal lan works , but this requires me to remove my sound card

Try a different ethernet cable.
