| need help with future mod
i need someones help with a simple mod for my future case, CM 690. I will be painting it a hammered gunmetal gray with black trim. But i was wanting to stencil my name onto the side of the case. Would anyone be willing to assist me in creating a font and lettering that i can cut out of cardboard so i can do this? Name i will be using will be FrostByte

I'm horrible with photo editing.. I know there are some Guru's though on here. Really what I would do is start looking into fonts. Surely you can find a font that has the style your looking for.
If not I know ShuckyD has a crap load of fonts. Maybe send him a message and see if he's willing to help. |

I'm here, found the thread
Hi KK!!
Hint: For a gunmetal/hammered look Rustoleum makes a pretty neat spray paint that I have used a couple times. It's under their "hammered" lineup and you can get it in both spray and can. I used the can most recently since I redid the tow-bar on my truck. (sanded down and repainted w/ this stuff). Also another neat thing is the stuff in the can was pretty thick, it was like brushing on epoxy

Zepper clicked on the wrong thread I think...
Another option to consider, is to NOT use a stencil or paint for the lettering...
Instead buy a decently thick sheet of plexiglass from a local hardware shop...
Find a cool font, print it out and then trace it on the plexi... cut it out and then use sandpaper or some other effect to create that "frosted" effect like ice
You may even use a blue LED to make it look even chillier
Another option to sanding or "etching" would be to go to a local Hobby Shop and purchase either a spray on or sponge on "frosting" product Buy DELTA PermEnamel White Frost | Supplies | Kits | Online Discount Store

Heres a shot at the "Frostbyte" look... I took this from a light blue color and did a "find edges" effect on it in photoshop. I also dropped a shadow on it so that its easier to see on the screen. If there is something else you would like to see, like it in a color and then beveled, etc. let me know, I have it here as a .PSD i can edit.
Fizur2002, if you want to use this (or similar) to trace I can go through in Photoshop and clean up alot of the excess stuff on the letters that would make it almost impossible to trace successfully. |
