Is this computer worth it?

My friend has a computer he bought 2 years ago and has never used it. Seeing as how my laptop has been failing me lately I am looking into his offer. I want a computer that is capable of running games such as company of heroes, wow, etc. Im just not sure how upgradable this computer is and am hoping that someone could help me out with whether or not it is worth it for me to get this computer/if i can upgrade the video card and ram
The computer is a dell dimension E510, intel pentium 4 processor 521, 2.8GHz. It has 512mb of ddr2 sdram at 533MHz. 128 Mb ati hyper memory pci-express x16 radeon x300 se. He bought it for 1350$ and will sell it to me for 275$. I dont want to waste my money on something that will be unable to play games within a year though. I am willing to spend some more money on ram and a video card. I appreciate any advice, as you can tell I'm not too knowledgeable about computers. Thanks~

Hi and WELCOME TO TECHIMO...!

I'm not too familiar with specs as such, but the P4 processor is a fairly old bit of kit. RAM and GPUs are fairly cheap nowadays, so that isn't really too much of an issue.

Otherwise I'm afraid it is up to you - but I'm sure there are others here who would be of more assistance....

Waste of 275 bucks...simply because that videocard is horrible for anything gaming related.

You'd have to throw in atleast another $100-150 (power supply and better videocard) to make it decent, and even then the p4 and lack of ram kills it's performance.

I'll second that, dell just recently had some desktops priced about the same price with a intel c2d, larger drive and more ram for about the same price. You'd still need to throw in a better gpu and p/s but you could have gotten a better base system.

edit: Heck Office Depot currently has this deal going on it would cost more upfront and today's the last day but it'll give you an idea of what $300 can buy you.

Thanks a lot for the advice, after looking at that link I see I can get a lot more for my money. So I think im just going to buy a new PC. What is a decent processing speed and video card? I dont want to get top of the line but I want it to be able to handle some good gaming. Thanks again for all the help.
