| NEW, Cheap Gaming Computer
Need help building a gaming computer, I've read many of the other threads.
Costco has a sale on a computer for 599.99, see below for specs. Basically I am thinking of adding in a video card for about 75 dollars and I am set. Is there anything better for the same price? 674.99? I want to hook up my computer to a TV to watch movies and play current games. Processor & Memory: Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9300 (2.50GHz) 6MB L2 cache 1333MHz Front Side Bus 4GB DDR2 SDRAM memory (2 x 2GB, shared) 1TB (7,200RPM) SATA Hard Drive 22x max DVD±RW dual layer optical drive 19-in-1 Multimedia digital card reader Two 5.25" external (1 occupied) Two 3.5" external (1 occupied) Four 3.5" internal (1 occupied) 1 x PCIe x16 1 x PCIe x1 2 x PCI Costco - $599.99 after $100 OFF ZT Affinity Q9300 2.5GHz 1 Terabyte HDD 4GB DDR2 |

Hi and Welcome to TechIMO.
That's a pretty decent price, but you should also factor in a new power supply. 99% of the times, pre built systems come with absolute crap for PSU's.
And especially after you add in a graphics card, your asking for trouble. |

Interesting, and thanks for the welcome!! What GPU and PSU would you then recommend (if this is a good set up)? Thanks! |

It's hard for me to say what GPU/PSU combo. What's your total budget for the whole thing? (PC and all)
In general, The CPU is good. The amount of RAM seems decent, although no brand is given, but not a huge deal. I'm curious to what chipset that motherboard has, but I can't seem to find info on it anywhere. I have a feeling it's probably like a P31, or 945GC, if so, it's not the best, but it will probably do.
Are you comfortable in building your own? You can get quality parts all the way around, and not have to worry about the "weak link"
And if not, that's fine. But what games do you plan to play on this PC? |

Total budget.. Probably 700 or 750 if its dire.
I feel comfortable building my own, but if you add in the Operating system (with selecting parts from newegg) comes more expensive overall.
I plan to play maybe WoW, or Starcraft 2, diable 3 in the future. |

Ok. That's a decent budget, I personally wouldn't settle for a pre-built. But I understand what your saying, let me see if I can make a list and beat the price.
(I like challenges like this.)
(yes I'm weird) |
